
Nicholas Albergo, P.E., DEE, is a founding
principal of HSA. He offers more than 15 years of domestic and international experience in
soil and water quality evaluations, contamination assessment, degradation and migration
analysis, industrial wastewater treatment design, and hazardous waste management, disposal
and remedial strategy. Albergo is a Registered Professional Engineer and is Board
Certified by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers in Hazardous Waste
Management. He was awarded a Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering Science and
a Masters of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South
Florida. After graduation, Albergo served as an environmental engineer for the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency. After serving as a Project
Manager for several engineering consulting firms, he founded HSA where he is currently
President. He has served as an adjunct professor in the College of Engineering at USF and currently teaches a site assessment course nationwide for the American Society of
Testing and Materials (ASTM). He is a seasoned expert witness and is routinely invited to
speak at various academic, public interest, and corporate seminars on environmental
issues. Albergo has chaired several scientific conferences, and he has over 125 technical
publications and a patent to his credit. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Chemical
Engineering at USF where his research involves development of models relating
nonequilibrium sorption of chlorinated organics, to contamination assessment and
remediation. Albergo serves on the editorial boards of several environmental journals and
is active in community affairs.
