Richard G. Lewis, Ph.D., P.E., is a shareholder and Principal Engineer at HSA with over ten years of experience in understanding the transport, detection and control of chemicals and microorganisms in the environment. Dr. Lewis is a Registered Professional Engineer and an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida in the Chemical Engineering Department where he teaches a course in Transport Processes in Risk Assessment. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physics from Centre College, a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University and his Master’s of Science degree and his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During his tenure at MIT, Lewis completed graduate coursework at Harvard Medical School and Harvard University involving transport/detection of bacteria and viruses in the environment. He is an accomplished computer modeler and has applied his expertise to projects involving complicated groundwater hydrogeology and multiphase contaminant migration. He is also responsible for the development of transport and exposure models for use in risk assessments. Lewis has extensive project management experience, including the implementation of numerous innovative remediation system designs. He is author of a number of publications and conference presentations.
