Who We Are
Origins
HSA Engineers & Scientists is the result of the merger of an environmental consulting firm, HSA Environmental, Inc., and geotechnical engineering firm, Scott-Sims & Associates, Inc., in 1994. HSA was founded on the proposition that each client has unique needs that require individual solutions, and that the right application will provide our clients with cost-effective solutions to their engineering issues.
In 1999, Conestoga-Rovers & Associates (CRA), one of the world’s leading engineering and environmental consultants, acquired a minority interest in HSA. Headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, CRA has more than 30 years of experience in providing high quality and responsive services, and has grown to over 90 offices and more than 3,000 professionals working on projects worldwide. This strategic alignment further expanded HSA’s capabilities in environmental engineering while adding construction and information technology solutions to HSA’s repertoire. In addition to building upon our environmental and geotechnical expertise, HSA also made strategic expansions into the fields of forensic engineering, water resources, construction services, and engineering design.
Our ability to draw upon the significant resources and expertise companywide represents our greatest strength in exceeding your expectations, as well as assuring the continued technical growth and geographic reach of our firm. To maintain our success, HSA aquired a number of smaller professional services firms, and continues to seek opportunities to expand into new service areas and implement innovative ideas. Throughout our acquisition history, there has been a certain commonality among the firms involved. Each has been extremely successful on its own, and each has "maintained" its reputation and commitment to engineering excellence through practical applications that have assured success.
